“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison.”(Colossians 4:2-3) “Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel”(Ephesians 6:19)
Regardless of where you are in the world, every Christian can take part in Christ’s global vision for his church in prayer. Seasonally we publish an aggregated list of prayer requests from our global partners as well as emergency prayer requests as they occur. If you would like to participate in this effort to cover our global partners in prayer you can join the email list by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”(Proverbs 31:8-10)
One of the great challenges for the church to overcome in global ministry is “out of sight, out of mind”. Your church family cannot pray for or address needs that it does not know exist. We cannot rejoice in victories we never hear about. Advocates are people who are willing to be a voice for global ministry in their community groups and circle of influence. Learn more by asking about advocacy at the Global Table on Sunday mornings or reaching out to us by email.
“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.”(Proverbs 12:25)
One of the challenges in long term ministry overseas is sudden isolation from the body of fellowship and encouragement you came from. Our global encouragers show love by reaching out with encouraging words, notes, and care packages.
- Hospitality Ministry: When our global partners return to visit us it is can be a difficult and expensive endeavor for them. Global volunteers ease that burden and make visits more refreshing and encouraging by offering our partners a place to stay, or a vehicle to use, or hosting them for a meal or two while they are in town.
- Global Team: The Global Team is a group of volunteers who are passionate about global ministry and serve in a variety of ways. Meeting to pray over and discuss global strategy, help vet potential partners and initiatives, and participate in planing, setting up and running Global out reach events and the Global Outreach table on Global Sundays are just a few of the ways they serve.
“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” (1 John 3:17) “Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” (Romans 12:13) “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Much as we have the opportunity to imitate Christ’s global focus in our prayers, we have the opportunity to take part in global ministry in our giving. The ministry of joyful giving isn’t anchored in an amount or obligation but in the love that prompts us to look to each other’s needs and liberty to respond according to your conscience.
