The apostle Paul described the Macedonian church this way:
"During a severe trial brought about by affliction, their abundant joy and their extreme poverty overflowed in a wealth of generosity… They begged us earnestly for the privilege of sharing in the ministry to the saints… They gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us by God's will." -2 Corinthians 8:2-5, CSB
This is the kind of generosity we want to be known for. The kind that comes from joy, not guilt. The kind that comes from a heart that has already been given to God, not from external pressure or guilt.
The gala is one of the ways in which we are intentionally pursuing that vision. Think of the best wedding you’ve ever been to, one that is filled with beauty and joy, one that truly marks the union of two individuals into one. The gala is meant to be like the wedding of generosity and joy. We will celebrate and feast, we will look back and rejoice at what God has done among us, and we will look forward to what God is putting before us for this year.
This year we are setting four initiatives before the church. Some of them care for our neighbors and the nations. Some care for our church family and community. One is the first step toward caring for the building God has given us. Whether you give your time, treasure, or talent, we want to welcome you to join us in this practice of counterformation through generosity.

At Gospel Community Church, we believe that generosity and joy belong together.
We do not give because we have to, we give because God was generous to us first. Sacrificial Generosity was one of the distinctive traits of the early church and it is one of the traits that the church has always been known for throughout history.
Generations Initatives

Generations Initatives •
This year, we are prayerfully aiming to raise $160,000 through the Generations Gala to fund these initiatives that will propel GCC forward into a new season of gospel impact.
Global Partners

Our goal is to fully fund our Global Partners for another year, as they carry the gospel to the nations.

GCC supports more than a dozen global partners. These are missionaries and ministry workers who live and serve across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. We send them, pray for them, and give to support their work and their families. Some of their names are kept private because they serve in places where it is dangerous to follow Jesus. This initiative funds another year of that support.
At Gospel we have always believed the Great Commission begins in our homes and goes to the ends of the earth. We want to be a church that is locally rooted and globally engaged.
Last year the gala helped fund our global partners for a full year and we would love to do that again. Think of it as an annual recommitment: each year, we gather together, celebrate the work that God is doing through GCC around the world, and we recommit to our global partners for another year of partnership.
No Needs Among Us Fund
This initiative is to fund the breakfasts for our neighbors at Connecting Point and allow us to have the margin to meet the tangible needs of our community, both inside and outside our church walls.

Connecting Point is GCC's outreach center, across the street from our Rivermont campus. Every Wednesday and Sunday morning, neighbors and volunteers share coffee and a hot breakfast together at shared tables. Connecting Point also runs a food pantry where neighbors choose their own groceries, and it offers showers and a small laundromat. Our neighborhood is a recognized food desert, so these needs are real.
Our church also gets requests for help all the time, from inside our church family and from outside it. We love saying yes, and this fund is meant to cover a full year of meeting those needs. The name echoes the early church in Acts 4, where no one was left in need. We want to bless people both inside and outside our church, and we want to do it generously. Roughly $30,000 of this fund supports Connecting Point's breakfasts, and the rest goes to benevolence for people in need in our church family and in our community.
Capital Campaign Seed
This fund will go toward major maintenance and renovations at our Rivermont location, allowing us to steward our facility well and support the ministry that happens within this space.

Our Rivermont building hosts Sunday services, Kid City, Gospel Student Ministries, groups, and events throughout the week. It has not had major work in about ten years. A capital campaign is a larger fundraising effort for a building project. Seed money is the first gift toward it, so the work can begin before the full campaign launches.
We have seen the fruit of investing in our College Hill facility, and we are preparing to invest in Rivermont as well. This initiative is the seed money toward the total cost of that project.
Family Ministries Programming

This goal is to be able to host a family retreat as well as provide future programming for parents, as we partner together to disciple the next generation.

Kid City is our Sunday environment for children from birth through 5th grade. Gospel Student Ministries serves students in 6th through 12th grade. We believe parents are the primary disciple-makers in their children's lives, so we want to equip them.
To reach every household, we need to equip parents to disciple their children. This fund helps us do more intentional family discipleship programming. It will help offset the cost of a church-wide family retreat, and any remaining funds will go toward additional ways to equip parents.

At the heart of generosity is worship. The Macedonian church didn’t give because they had extra, they gave because they had given themselves fully to the Lord. Their joy in Christ overflowed into radical generosity, even in the midst of poverty and hardship.
That’s our prayer for the Generations Gala: not just to raise funds, but to raise faith. Not just to cover needs, but to cultivate joyful, surrendered hearts that say, “God, You’ve been generous to us, now let us respond likewise.”
