Welcome a New Season

For some, the end of August marks a conclusion (end of Summer, end of break, end of vacation season). For others, the end of August marks the beginning of something new (beginning of Fall, beginning of school, beginning of new habits and rhythms). At Gospel Community Rivermont (GCR), we’re not ready to say goodbye to Summer, but we’re excited to welcome a new season.
What’s new?
– Our college students are back!
– Lots of new visitors are looking to get connected at GCR.
– We’ve added one extra Sunday morning worship service (8am), along with continuing to worship at 9:30am and 11:15am.
– We started a new sermon series – Steadfast; a three week study of 2 Thessalonians.
– Pretty soon we will be launching our Fall groups (gospel communities and discipleship communities).
These new things are anchored in the most important thing – the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is the reason we exist! As a church, we celebrate the Gospel and to share the Gospel with the world. God did something amazing! He displayed His great love for us – while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8). As sons and daughters of God, we celebrate our new life and look for opportunities to share it with others.
Sometimes sharing God’s love comes in the form of verbally telling someone about Jesus. We should all pray, and look, for those types of opportunities. Other times, sharing God’s love comes in the form of sharing your seat. As we kick off this new ministry season, we are expecting a lot of visitors at our 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM services. One way for you to be a blessing, to someone who may not know Jesus, is by coming to our early 8 AM service (Kid City ministry available as well). We want to free up as many seats at possible at 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM so that more people have an opportunity to hear about Jesus, celebrate the powerful message of the Gospel, and be equipped to share the Gospel with the world.
One final thought – don’t wait until the New Year to get plugged in. In the western world, we all struggle with the disease of busyness. Even when we desire to grow deeper in our relationship with God, and go deeper with our Christian community, many of us don’t have extra time or our minds are full of excuses about why this is not the best time to get plugged in. The Fall is a great time to assess your priorities and to make sure that Jesus is in His rightful place – not just at the top of your list, but reflected in every part of your life.
The church is designed to be a family and we hope that Gospel Community Rivermont can become your home. Welcome home!
